Welcome to the StampDetective.com Open Source Stamp Catalog and exchange, a worldwide stamp database that anyone can edit.

The Open Source Stamp Catalog is a collaborative project to create the most definitive, accurate, and accessible encyclopedia and reference database for everything related to Philately and Stamp Collecting.

In this wiki, started on July 12, 2007, we are currently working on 15 catalog pages.

7/12/07: I started this site to try and revive the effort to create a public domain stamp catalog. The previous free want list service I hosted has been replaced with this WIKI. The other site did not generate sufficient interest and required too much work to keep up. The most popular portion of the previous site was the scans of my collection, so let's give this a try and have some fun!

  • Stamp collecting can be a wonderful hobby and tends to be overwhelmingly dominated with people of integrity and honesty. Stamp collecting is to hobbies what golf is to sports.
  • If you have just inherited a collection, take some time to learn as much as you can before deciding to sell your collection.
